A Regular Filipino Visiting the Land of Royalty

What would a Filipino be doing in the city of London? Well, the little brown guy will usually be up and around checking out the place. Of course, there will also be budget constraints along the way since everything in this city is by far quite expensive for this stalwart Asian traveler.

A Filipino might visit the place just to relish the sites, find business and financial opportunities, or just to visit a relative who might happen to be working in this city. The reasons may be varied but anyone visiting here will still have to apply some good old street smarts. Every huge and well populated city in the world will have a mix of both the good and the bad after all.

To London! But Don't Go Broke

The city has that fabulous reputation of being rather expensive, which holds true for anyone visiting the place. Filipinos, being generally frugal by nature, would not even dare to spend their entire fortune on dining and lodging. Yes, it's possible to visit the place and have a great time without going home bankrupt and destitute.

Hotels for Budget Travelers

It's pretty interesting that the city also accommodates both big spenders and backpackers alike. Finding the really bargain hotels will take some effort, truth be told. Nevertheless, getting a room and a place to lay your head is one of the first things you will do upon arriving at the airport.

The first question is how a traveler will figure out if a hotel, apartment, or hostel is budget, midrange, or luxury. To be safe, if the place has rates that falls under 70 pounds then it can be classified as a budget hotel. If rates go from 70 pounds up to something around 140 pounds then that may well fall within the mid-range hotels (two or three stars). Luxury hotels will usually have rates going over and beyond 140 pounds.

Finding a place to stay in will require some research. If you're going on a shoestring budget then it'll be best to read hotel reviews online to find the best places to stay in. Many people will consider staying in the underground's Zone 1. Consider staying in hostels or apartment hotels that are a few minutes away from a station. Nevertheless, for those who can afford four or five star hotels in London then they can check out the options in the West End.

Places to See and Visit

Filipinos and budget travelers don't really have to spend a ton of money just to see the many sites and attractions. There are a lot of free concerts going on regularly and some museums that are either virtually or absolutely free. For instance, the Natural History Museum and the National Gallery can be toured without shedding a single penny.

Strolling in the many parks including the seven mile path that was created in memoriam of the late Princess Diana won't cost visitors anything. Those who love theaters will want to try the famous London theater scene. For really affordable ticket options, check out the options around Leicester Square.

Dining

Of course, expect to fork out an entire fortune if you dine in one of the star emblazoned restaurants. In order to keep things within the budget, look for the ethnic eateries that serve Afghan, Chinese, Korean, Indian, and even Filipino dishes. However, do check the menu before ordering as there are ethnic restaurants in London that have affixed exorbitant price tags on each plate.
