Hot Springs in Puerto Galera - Philippines

A dive over here and another dive over there seem to be the daily routine of tourists and locals alike in the paradise dive destination Puerto Galera. One of the many special dive locations can be found in the Chicken Feather Island and it is called the Hot Springs dive site. Let us take you to this special dive site so that you will have even more fun exploring the real deal once you are in Puerto Galera.

The Hot Springs dive site is located around an hour boat ride from the shores of Puerto Galera to the northwest. The Chicken Feather Island is an island that has two dive spots and it is a perfect place to make a daytrip for two dives over at the Hot Springs dive site and at the Chicken Feather Island East Side dive site. The island itself has white sand beaches and you can spend your surface intervals on these beaches or exploring the little island further.

The Hot Springs dive site is not the ordinary dive location with all the marine flora and fauna since it has something even more extraordinary that can seldom be found in shallower areas such as this area. The first thing that you will see down the slopes is the cave with whitetip reef sharks inhabiting them. Once you go deeper down the slopes, you will know why this location is called the Hot Springs dive site. The bottom consists of volcanic rock and you will see and feel hot water bubbles rise from cracks in the volcanic rock. If you go deeper and explore the region, you will enter a place that might have been the volcanic crater itself and here you will be able to experience the rise of sulfuric gases from the volcano soil.

This dive doesnt require a high certification level except the advance open water. Open water divers with experience may also dive in the Hot Springs dive site. The minimum depth of this dive site is 15 meters and the maximum depth is around 21 meters. There are only a few currents and they are mostly mild, which makes it easier to watch the bubble phenomenon at the Hot Springs.

This dive alone will cost around $25 with weights, tanks, dive guide and transportation. If you choose to do a daytrip then prepare around $40 to $50 for two to three dives for that trip. Always pay an extra $10 if you wish to dive with Nitrox. The Hot Springs dive site is definitely a novelty dive that you will never forget.
