La Laguna Point in Puerto Galera - Philippines

Puerto Galera is home to one dive site that is ideal for beginners, which you will not find very often since Puerto Galera dive sites are mostly adventure dives and extreme drift dives. The La Laguna Point dive site is located at the tip of Sabang Beach, which is an extension island north of Puerto Galera. You can either drive to the La Laguna Point dive site with a car, of go by boat from Puerto Galera which is going to take more or less 20 minutes. The dive site is right in between the Dry Rock deep dive site and the Alma Jane Wreck.

Since the La Laguna Point dive site is a shallow dive, you will be able to see plenty of corals and fish swimming around or hiding in little caves. The coral reef itself consists of plate corals, stag horn corals and table corals. You will also find plenty of critters and nudibranchs. Fish are in masses as well in this dive site. You will see sweetlips, surgeonfish, triggerfish, angelfish and clown fish. Occasionally when it pleases, a turtle will emerge from the depths and float up towards the surface. The La Laguna Point is a perfect night diving spot because it is at night where you can see special species such as the Spanish dancer, sole fish and stargazers. You will also come by a small cave where you can observe the sleeping turtles.

As mentioned above, this is one of the only dive sites in Puerto Galera that is ideal for beginners. The depth ranges from 5 meters minimum to 18 meters maximum. There are only occasional mild currents present in this shallow dive site which will cause no problems to beginners. The dive cost ranges from $25 to $40 depending on equipment rental, dive shop and dive guide. The La Laguna Point dive site is pretty easy to dive and there is no necessity for a dive guide if you are already an experienced diver or if you are a professional diver with a dive master certification.
