History of Puerto Galera Yacht Club

Established by several yachtsmen in the Philippines in 1991, Puerto Galera Yacht Club aims to improve and promote leisure activities in the island. One of the important missions that the organization strives to attain is the provision of an accommodating place for numerous cruising boats that usually visit the country. To achieve this objective, the club establishes premises near coves and beaches where travelers can do exciting leisure activities. Aside from recreational activities like scuba diving, kayaking, and snorkeling, the premises of Puerto Galera Yacht Club is also near to other establishments such as bars that offer cozy ambiance, and restaurants that serve delectable dishes.

Special Activity the Club Organizes

Puerto Galera Yacht Club takes pride in the Sailing Regattas that it organizes and holds three times a year. This activity is a racing of different kinds of boats like dinghies, keelboats, and Hobie 16s. With the primary objective of offering fun activity to yachtsmen in the country, Sailing Regattas also offers big cash prizes to those who excel in sailing. To avoid complaints regarding the activity, Puerto Galera Yacht Club gives free lessons or instructions on the basics of sailing.

Sail Training Program

Besides sailing activities and attractive facilities, Puerto Galera Yacht Club is also popular for its Sail Training Program. The club ensures all the enrollees at the program of ample understanding on the fundamentals of the sports of boating or sailing in calm waters. In line with this program is the organizations Sailing Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund goes to local children who already gave pride to the country by winning the top places at Presidents Cup Regatta in 2006.

Situated at Muelle Bay in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, Puerto Galera Yacht Club offers 28 places where yachtsmen can anchor their boats when they visit the island. Some of the moorings that the organization provides for the comfort and convenience of travelers are at MMYC Moorings, Nasugbu and Solano Resort in Nasugbu. Hence, to experience the luxury of staying in the place, each mooring features nice and safe hotels for everyone.
