Verde Island Dive Sites - Puerto Galera

The Verde Island dive site is located an hour boat ride away from the Puerto Galera beach and this island has several great dive sites which make perfect two or three dive day for a diver. The Verde Island dive site itself is located between the main Luzon Island and Mindoro Island. The Verde Island is part of the Province of Batangas.

The Verde Island dive site has two popular diving spots which are the Washing Machine and the Drop Off. You will see many schools of fish and different kinds of corals especially on the Drop Off Verde Island dive site because you dive up to a pinnacle where you may even see some sea snakes cradled up sleeping their time away. You may occasionally spot a turtle and big schools of jacks and banner fishes. The Drop Off Verde Island dive site is 80 meters deep and you can do a maximum depth of 30 to 40 meters depending on your experience level. The Washing Machine Verde Island dive site is quite different and does not only excite you with the marine life, but rather with its strong currents that run through interlocking canyons that cause a washing machine effect which will tear you in many random directions.

Both diving sites at the Verde Island are open to all kinds of divers from open water to scuba master divers, but those who would like to do deep diving have to have at least an advanced diver certification or deep diver certification in order to do so. The maximum depth for the Drop Off is 80 meters and for the Washing Machine it is 15 meters. It is best if only experienced diver try doing this day trip to the Verde Island dive site because the currents are fairly strong and shift very quickly and unexpectedly.

The cost to go to the Verde Island dive site amounts up to $50 to $70 because it is an hour trip away from the mainland. The price already includes additional rental equipment such as tanks and weights. You need to make sure that your dive guide is experienced enough so that he can thoroughly brief you through the Washing Machine dive. Also make sure that you use a full body wetsuit because you can easily get scratches from corals and rocks during the Washing Machine drift dive.

The Verde Island dive site makes a unique diving adventure because you do not only find interesting things to look at underwater, but the island itself also offers a piece of Spanish history on its beach. Find your inner discoverer and take the day trip to the Verde Island.
