Visa for Foreign Tourists

A Philippine visa for foreign tourists is an endorsement by the Philippine Embassy abroad that is made on a travel document. It represents approval of the application and signifies that the bearer is allowed to go to the Philippines and request authorities of Philippine Immigration at their port of entry to come into the country.

Keep in mind that bearing a visa for foreign tourists does not guarantee an entry into the country. It is because authority to admit foreigners is under the jurisdiction of Bureau of Immigration authorities at the Philippine port of entry.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, a foreign tourist is also known as a temporary visitor to the country for legitimate and non-immigrant purposes. These purposes include health, sightseeing or pleasure, business reasons, sports, etc.

By and large, foreign visitors may enter the country without a Philippine visa as long as they don't stay for more than 21 days, have a confirmed return ticket or an on-going ticket to another country, and have a valid passport for a minimum of six months beyond the intended stay-period. Otherwise, it is required that visiting foreigners acquire a Philippine visa for foreign tourists.

Requirements:

To acquire a Philippine visa for foreign tourists, the applicant should make a personal appearance at the Philippine Consulate or Embassy in their country of residence. The minimum requirements in obtaining a visa are stated below:

1. A passport that is valid for at least six (6) months further than or beyond the period of stay that the applicant intends to remain in the country;

2. Duly accomplished documents (forms for application of Visa);

3. Two (2) passport photos that have been taken not more than six (6) months prior;

4. Bona fide or legitimate proof of status as a businessman or tourist;

5. Confirmed return ticket or confirmed ticket for onward journey to the following port of destination (photocopies); and

6. Paying of application dues or fees.

A Philippine visa for foreign tourists is a travel document endorsement that is required of temporary visitors who intend to stay for more than 21 days in the country (in addition to the rest of the conditions stated above, of course). It is advised that they acquire a Philippine visa for foreign tourists at the Philippine Embassy in their country of residence. The aforementioned list encompasses the minimum documentary requirements, in addition to a personal appearance at the consul office, which one should accomplish and have during the application process.
